The Unleashed Project
WHAT IS THE UNLEASHED PROJECT?
Unleashed is a therapeutic, social art project. It empowers and enables women to express, love and accept themselves from the inside out, promoting body positivity and the celebration of a woman's whole unique beauty. As the viewer or the muse, an apparent shift radiates out that permeates through society in ways beyond what is expressed through the resulting photographs.
THE PROCESS:
108 women of all ages, sizes, shapes, colors and diverse lives from the community who expressed an interest to be part of the collective message and who were ready to blossom were interviewed and selected to participate in the beauty that unfolds. I created a welcoming safe space and lead each woman on a journey into herself. Through a guided meditation of mental imagery, body sensations, personal color theory and emotional flooding she fostered a newfound love for herself. Cast in a new light, her body became a canvas of her own emotions and she thoughtfully applied the paint as a tool of self-expression. The energy contrived was documented through my lens via artistic photos & testimonial video of her individualized journey. Through this experience she has created a new relationship with her inner critical voice that ripples out into her life and into the world.
THE MISSION: The mission of The Unleashed Project is to continue to impact and inspire women across the globe, bringing awareness to self love and body positivity. Host Melissa and The Unleashed Project exhibition in your city or hometown. Women can apply to be selected to participate in the Unleashed process and photo shoot.
